Nebraska senior tight Cethan Carter was named to the John Mackey Award Watch list on Wednesday. The award goes to the nation’s most outstanding collegiate tight end.
Earning Nebraska’s Most Improved Player award in 2015, Carter caught 24 balls for 329 yards and two receiving touchdowns. Carter also had a 32-yard touchdown run on a reverse against Rutgers.
Down the stretch, the junior had 10 catches for 165 yards and two touchdowns in the final three games. His play earned him honorable-mention All-Big Ten honors.
Carter was one of six Big Ten tight ends to appear on the watch list. Recently a Scout.com panel of Big Ten reporters ranked Carter the No. 3 tight end in the Big Ten.
