Two Huskers Named To 2016 Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List

Both Nebraska receivers Jordan Westerkamp and Brandon Reilly made the Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List on Wednesday.

Lincoln – Senior wide receivers Brandon Reilly and Jordan Westerkamp earned preseason recognition on Wednesday, as both players were named to the Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List.  The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football.

Reilly, a Lincoln native who originally walked on to the Husker program, emerged as one of the Big Ten’s top receivers in 2015.  He totaled 40 catches for 754 yards and four touchdowns, as his 18.9-yard per catch average was the second-best in school history among players with 40 receptions in a season, trailing only Irving Fryar in 1983. Reilly had eight catches of at least 30 yards last season, highlighted by his 30-yard touchdown grab in the final seconds of the win over sixth-ranked Michigan State.

Westerkamp was named to the Biletnikoff Watch List for the second straight season and enters his senior year as one of the top receivers in program history. The Lombard, Ill., native already ranks in the top 10 in program history in career receptions (129; sixth), receiving yards (1,948; fourth) and touchdowns (13; ninth). Last season, Westerkamp caught 65 passes for 918 yards, good for the second- and third-highest totals in school history, respectively, as he earned All-Big Ten honors. He has caught at least one pass in each of the last 26 games entering the 2016 campaign.

Reilly and Westerkamp were two of six Big Ten receivers on the 62-member Biletnikoff Award Watch list, as Nebraska was one of only nine schools with multiple Biletnikoff Award Watch List members.
