After earning an offer at one of Nebraska’s Friday Night Lights sessions in the summer, 2019 Kirkwood St. John Vianney high school (MO) wide receiver Kyren Williams was back in Lincoln on Saturday to check out the Huskers’ matchup with Illinois.
Williams talked about the trip with Big Red Report.
“A highlight was being able to go in the locker room and see how everyone bonded so well,” said Williams. “It was great seeing how they got along and what they did to get each other hyped for the game.”
After hauling in 50 catches for 606 yards as a freshman, Williams has been limited to just three games in 2016 due to a hip pointer. The sophomore still has recorded eight touchdowns this year.
“I plan to be back next week,” said Williams. “It has definitely slowed my recruitment down. Notre Dame is starting to show a little interest.”
Still 28 months away from signing his national letter of intent, Williams’ one offer is from Nebraska, while Iowa State, Northwestern, and Purdue are also in the mix.
Williams closely watched the wide receiver play on Saturday against the Illini and was impressed.
“They worked really well…I see myself fitting in,” said Williams, who went on to talk about the entire team. “The program is just getting started and I know they have a great class coming in. That is definitely something I am looking for in a college.”
At the moment he doesn’t have a Nebraska return trip scheduled, but stats he will be back. He came to Lincoln with four-star 2019 teammate Cameron Coleman, who also boasts a Nebraska offer.
