Nebraska offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh will head to Dallas-Fort Worth on Tuesday in hopes of convincing four-star offensive tackle Chuck Filiaga to make one last official visit before making an announacment at the Army All-American game. It is possible Cavanaugh will visit Filiaga with the assistance of head coach Mike Riley.
Filiaga plays for Aledo high school. The Bearcats are currently 14-0 and will play in the Texas state 5A Division 2 semi-finals on Friday. Aledo is the heavy favorite, meaning Filiaga would have to weigh taking a visit with a possible state championship appearance the following week.
Over the weekend Nebraska on Scout caught up Filaga after the Bearcats defeated Fort Worth Boswell in the state quarterfinals.
“I like the Nebraska coaching staff a lot,” said Filiaga. "Tavita Thompson is Polynesian. He's easier to bond with. We know each other although we don't know each other."
Could Filiaga see himself in the Big Ten?
“I don’t know. Honestly it’s not about the conference. It’s about where I can grow up as a man,” said the four-star prospect. “I’m definitely looking at depth charts. Nebraska has definitely said I could be an early impact guy for them.”
Filiaga visited Texas over the weekend. He’s also considering Michigan, Arkansas, Oregon, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Tennessee.
