Nebraska Recruiting Calendar Through Signing Day

Breaking down the Nebraska recruiting calendar between now and National Signing Day.

12/12/16 - 1/11/17: Dead Period

During this time, no face-to-face contact is allowed between coaches and recruits or their parents. That means no official, unofficial or in-home visits. College coaches are also not permitted to visit prospect's high school or watch him play/workout.

What is allowed during this time is contact via telephone, texting or social media with recruits, their parents and their coaches.

What this means for Nebraska: This gives Nebraska a  chance to reset heading into January and possibly even reevaluate new prospects who might have emerged from a strong senior season.  This reset will especially be important on the defensive line, after losing defensive end Robert Porcher. Also we wouldn’t be surprised if another offensive tackle is targeted, with Foster Sarell and Chuck FIliaga looking like they might end up elsewhere.

12/14/16: JUCO Signing Period Begins

Mid-Year Junior College prospects can sign their National Letter of Intent beginning on Wednesday, December 14th. The signing period runs through January 15th. This is for JUCO prospects who are graduating in December. For those graduating in May, they are subject to the same signing day/period as high school prospects.

What this means for Nebraska: Absolutely nothing. We don’t see the Huskers signing any JUCO products at least this December.

12/16/16: Thomas Graham Announcement

The four-star prospect will be making his announcement on Friday at 1 p.m. CT. It is believed Nebraska and Oregon are the favorites, with USC and Notre Dame still being considered. http://www.scout.com/player/193380-thomas-graham?s=204

 1/1/17: Under Armour All-American Game

The game will be played on ESPN and starts at 12 p.m. CT, going up against the NFL.

What this means for Nebraska: Husker prospects Robert Beal, Josh Falo, Thomas Graham (will have made a decision already), Jaylon Redd and Tyler Shelvin will be playing in the game.

1/7/17: Army All-American Game

Kickoff is set for 12:00 CT from San Antonio. The Army game is the oldest high school All-American game in the land.

What this means for Nebraska: Multiple Nebraska prospects are in the contest with some announcing their college intentions. Four-star wide receiver Jamire Clavin, four-star offensive tackle Chuck Filiaga, and five-star offensive tackle Foster Sarell will be making their selection. In addition, Nebraska prospects Joseph Lewis, Greg Johnson, Demmmodore Lenoir, and Stephen Carr will also be playing in the game.

1/9/17: Spring Semester Starts At Nebraska

The first day of classes for early enrollees Tristan Gebbia, Avery Roberts, Keyshawn Johnson Jr. and Jaevon McQuitty.

1/12/17 - 1/28/17: Contact Period

Face-to-face contact is allowed during this time, as well as telephone, text and social media contact. Official, unofficial and in-home visits are all permitted as well.

What this means for Nebraska: The coaches will once again hit the road and will likely visit a strong list of uncommitted players: DT.) Tyler Shlevin, LB.) Isaac Slade-Matautia, LB.) Andrew Ward, DB.) Greg Johnson, DB.) Demmodore Lenoir, DB.) Kamren Curl, DB.) Elijah Blades, DB.) Trajon Cotton, RB.) C.J. Verdell, WR.) Joseph Lewis, WR.) Gavin Holmes.

1/29/17: Quiet Period

During quiet periods, recruits are allowed to visit schools. College coaches cannot, however, visit recruits either at their school or home. They cannot have in-person contact with recruits or parents outside of on-campus visits. That includes coaches attending events or practices for recruits. Telephone, text and social media contact are all permit.

1/30/17 - 2/1/17: Dead Period

The same as the dead period above. No face-to-face contact is permitted. Telephone, texting and social media contact are all allowed.

What this means for Nebraska: No last minute visits during the few days before National Signing Day. Nebraska will do their last minute recruiting pitches via other methods.

2/1/17: National Signing Day

The culmination of the recruiting cycle. Nebraska on Scout will, once again, be your Nebraska National Signing Day headquarters with in-depth recruiting coverage from the Scout.com team.

What this means for Nebraska: Expected to make announcements around National Signing Day include: Joseph Lewis and Kamren Curl.
