With questions looming regarding Tim Miles' future as basketball coach at the University of Nebraska, Husker athletic director Shawn Eichorst joined Nebraska Sports Nightly on Wednesday night and was asked to comment regarding his thoughts.
“I think Tim - I don’t think, I know - he has done a terrific job managing our program," said Eichorst. "The teachers that he has, this is the strongest staff I know that he’s had since we’ve been together with Jim (Molinari) and Kenya (Hunter) and Michael (Lewis). Ali (Farokhmanesh) has been a great addition to that staff from a player personnel perspective. We have talked about the roster and the young talent we have in the program."
Eichorst indicated he and Miles had multiple meetings last spring - an opportunity to reflect on the program and see what was needed to be competitive in the Big Tne.
"Tim and I are on the same page," said Eichorst. "I know he has a vision and a plan. I know this. He is an experienced coach who has won at every level...I'm very pleased with the overall effort. The future is bright."
Nebraska is 12-14 overall and 6-8 overall in conference. The Huskers' strength of schedule is considered by many to be a top five this season at this point.
Miles has had just one winning season at Nebraska, his second season in Lincoln. Nebraska made the NCAA tournament that year. Overall Miles is 75-81 with Nebraska.
