Nebraska HC Tim Miles will return for 2017-18

Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst announced head basketball coach Tim Miles will be back for next season.

After a third straight losing season, Nebraska will keep head coach Tim Miles for the 2017-18 season. Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst announced via Twitter shortly after the Huskers 76-67 overtime loss to Penn State in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.

Miles is 75-86 since taking over as head coach for the Huskers five seasons ago. His best season came in 2013-14, when Nebraska finished 19-13 and made the NCAA Tournament.

Nebraska loses leading scorer Tai Webster next year to graduation, but will return four starters. In addition, former Louisville transfer Anton Gill will be back form injury. Nebraska will also add former Miami guard James Palmer into the mix. Palmer played in 34 games for the Hurricanes last season.

“I’m so happy Shawn made a public statement, and it’s the same thing he’s told me privately,” Miles told reporters, including the Omaha World Herald. “I want to come through for Shawn and come through for the Husker fans.
