Colson Yankoff (Brandon Huffman)

Nebraska QB board/wishlist

A look at the Nebraska quarterback board/wish list this March.

In the last decade recruiting has sped up to what some call an alarming rate. Take the 2018 quarterback position for instance. Nebraska has already seen at least five of their known offers commit to other programs.

Jacob Sirmon – Washington, Cameron Rising – Oklahoma, Justin Fields – Penn State, Jack Tuttle – Utah and Jack West – Stanford.

It is March and been a month since we updated the board.

Let's take a look.

After visiting in November, Coronoa Centennial (California) high school quarterback Tanner McKee bolted up Nebraska’s recruiting board.

“I loved my visit to Nebraska. Definitely want to go back,” said McKee at the time. “I will probably take an official visit next year. Coach Langsford said he is coming out to Centennial soon, so I will get to talk with him more after he comes out.

“I connected well with the coach while I was in Nebraska and love the facilities and fans.”

According to, in 13 games McKee threw for just over 3,500 yards and 36 touchdowns to just eight interceptions – hitting on nearly 72 percent of his throws.

Recently he earned a spot in the Elite 11, after a strong showing at the Opening in Houston. He has plans for a long list of schools to visit in spring and summer months and will take officials at the moment.

“I feel I would fit into their offense very well,” said McKee regarding Nebraska. “They run a pro style offense with a little spread mixed in. I think my strong suits as a quarterback are my accuracy, arm strength, and decision making.”

Look for the Huskers to land an official visit.

McKee said he will be visiting Georgia and South Carolina in the coming weeks. Right now BYU and North Carolina seem to be recruiting him the hardest.

A recent tweet from Nebraska offensive coordinator appears to say four-star quarterback Colson Yankoff will be Lincoln later this month.

Yankoff was a player Nebraska visited during fall and multiple times during the month of December and January. While the junior couldn’t host the Huskers at home, Langsdorf did visit his school.

An Oregon decommitment, the 2018 prospect was the Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year. As a junior, he threw for 3,129 yards and 27 touchdowns to just six interceptions, completing nearly 68 percent of his throws.

A Scout Top 100 prospect, Mayden has a strong offer list, consisting of 20+ offers – including Nebraska, Ohio State, Georgia and Baylor. Likely to be the third D-1 player in his family, his brothers play at Alabama and Rice. He doesn't have a spring schedule set, but will be committing in the spring. It doesn't appear Nebraska is in position to land Mayden - the No. 1 QB in the state of Texas.

Doyle was offered in May of 2016 by offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf, but the Nebraska has never been one to standout to the junior thus far. Nebraska fans will have a high chance of seeing him in the Big Ten though, with Michigan State being a current projected leader.

A former teammate of Nebraska running back target T.J. Pledger, White worked out for Nebraska at their satellite camp. As currently the No. 110 player in the country, White is a higher ranked quarterback than McKee, despite not sporting the same offer list. Currently schools such as Arizona State, Washington, Washington State and Oregon State have jumped on board. His brother is a Sun Devil. Fresno State is also a major player. He wants to visit Auburn and Georgia. He will likely be making a summer decision.
