Nebraska makes the cut for Texas prep QB Jalen Mayden

Nebraska makes the cut for Texas prep quarterback Jalen Mayden.

A Scout Top 100 prospect, Sachse (Texas) quarterback Jalen Mayden has a strong offer list, consisting of 20+ offers. On Monday, he pared it to a top five: Baylor, Louisville, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Nebraska.

Likely to be the third D-1 player in his family, his brothers play at Alabama and Rice. He doesn't have a spring schedule set, but in the past indicated he would be making a spring decision.

Mayden played for Team USA in the Under-16 game in 2016 and was named MVP after throwing four touchdowns and rushing for one to help Team USA beat Alberta 43-6. In 20 high school appearances, Mayden has 4,579 yards and 54 touchdowns to 10 interceptions. He's also rushed for over 1,100 yards with 12 scores.

Mayden is currently the No. 1 quarterback in the state of Texas. A left-hander, he is a true dual-threat. While it appears the Huskers are mostly targeting pocket-passing quarterbacks, Mayden's 66 percent completion rate makes him a solid prospect for offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf's offense.

In the fall of 2015, Mayden received national recruit of the week honors, for 600+ yard passing and seven touchdowns performance. The video can be seen above.
