The offers just keep on coming for Dan Doering

Dan Doering of Barrington (IL) High School may very well be the most wanted lineman in the country. Given the offers he has at this point and from whom it is well within reason to expect 30 offers for Doering before summer.

At 6-foot-7 and 290 pounds, Dan Doering from Barrington, IL can cover a lot of area. Not just in his personal space, but the offensive tackle can still cover the 40-yard dash in five seconds. It's that type of athleticism that interest the 13 schools that have offered Doering already and the many more that are sending him mail.

The accolades that Doering has pulled into this point are pretty amazing. Consider that his junior season honors include Mid-Suburban All Conference, Daily Herald All Area, Chicago Tribune 1st Team All State, Champaign News Gazette 1st Team All State, Illinois Coaches Association 1st Team All State, Rivals.com 1st Team All State, USA Today Top 10 Juniors List and Rivals.com Junior All America Team.

And personal achievement isn't everything. Behind Dan's work on the offensive line, Barrington High School's team last year was able to accomplish some pretty impressive things themselves. Dan helped Barrington advance to the Illinois Class 8A State Quarterfinals - season record 10-2. In the process of a 10-2 season the team set new records for rushing yards (3,688 yards), total offense (4,510 yards) and points scored (381 points). Those achievements are what have schools taking notice of Doering.

"I just got five new offers last week," Doering said. "I got offered from USC, UCLA, Arizona, Nebraska and Boston College. That brings me up to 13 total offers."

Doering was already holding offers from Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

"I've seen a lot of schools already; Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Illinois and Notre Dame. This summer I am going to go and look at a lot of schools."

"I am not planning on doing any camps this summer. Over spring break we're going to Palm Springs, CA. While I'm out there I am going to visit USC and UCLA. I am going to get to Illinois sometime soon."

"I want to get to Nebraska sometime too. They are the only Big 12 school to offer me so far. Colorado has been asking me to call. Every time I've called a school that asked me to call I've gotten an offer. I'm sure Colorado will offer if I call."

Although a school can't contact a recruit right now Nebraska has already spoken to Doering, but it hasn't been through the coaching staff. Nebraska commit Santino Panico knows Dan Doering.

"Santino Panico is my buddy. He called me to tell me to think about Nebraska. He actually called the day before they offered. I went down to the All-American game and watched Santino. He looked pretty good."

This week Dan was planning on calling the Nebraska coaching staff personally. Stay tuned to HuskerConnection for the latest in Husker recruiting news! Bryan Munson can be contacted at NURules@comcast.net.
