The senior-to-be from Ironwood Ridge HS (Tucson, Ariz.) is up to three offers after only receiving his first offer a few weeks ago at Arizona's Junior Day. This week his coach has been taking calls from literally all over the nation.
"It's been really exciting. On Monday Vanderbilt called and offered my coach verbally. Later that night Nebraska called my coach and verbally offered. Both schools said that they were sending an official letter this week," Borg said.
And that isn't the end for Borg. He is receiving steady interest from a host of other schools. One school seems very interested right now and is talking about offering.
"I know that Oregon State is pretty interested. My coach said that they are really close to offering me."
"Last year I went to the Stanford camp. At the camps I think that you get to know the coaches better and you get to see the campus. You get to stay on campus and get a feel for the dorms, college life and check out the town."
Since Nebraska has offered that may have done some things to change Borg's leader board. It seems to have vaulted the Cornhuskers to close to the top.
"Nebraska has been one of the top, no the top, schools recruiting me in terms of prestige. They are probably my top choice out of the offers I have received so far. They will be in my top three until I make a decision."
"Nebraska is a heck of a football school. I am probably going to call their coaches this week. I don't know who their line coach is yet, but I know that Bill Callahan is there now."
"Plus, he is bringing in the West Coast Offense. I'm a tall, rangy guy that could help them out with pass-blocking. I'd be a better fit to the style of offense that they are planning on running."
The athletic Borg is not only a standout on the field, but he also carries a 4.1 GPA on a five-point scale and scored an 1180 on his SAT in January.
Stay tuned recruiting fans! The recruiting battle for Daniel Borg is just starting.
