Huskers offer Kevin Lopina!

The tradition at Concord De La Salle is second to none. They have not lost a game in over a decade. At the start of last year Kevin Lopina led De La Salle until he tore his ACL. Although he only played part of the season last year he is already holding one offer.

Kevin Lopina got one of the offers he was hoping for this week. On Tuesday the Nebraska Cornhuskers offered the 6-foot-2 and 195 pound quarterback.

"That was really exciting," Lopina said. "They are in my top two already with Notre Dame."

There is a link now from Nebraska to De La Salle. Head Coach Bill Callahan's son is a former QB from De La Salle that is currently at UCLA. The younger son is a junior at the school.

"Nebraska's coach is Bill Callahan and I am friends with his son. So there is actually a relationship with Coach Callahan in a way. They are putting in the West Coast Offense at Nebraska and they need a quarterback."

Kevin may just be their man. Through six games Kevin threw for over 700 yards with four touchdowns while gaining another 350 yards on the ground. The De La Salle offense runs a good mixture of option as well as a balanced passing attack. Being able to run the 4--yard dash in 4.6 seconds helps out.

The pressure may be on Kevin to keep all of De La Salle's streaks alive. They don't return a lot of starters and last year's senior class was very talented and were on the field a lot. Kevin thinks that they will be OK and that the seniors-to-be have a lot of athletes to fall back on.

Lopina was quick about scheduling a trip out to Nebraska. He will be in Lincoln to see the spring game on April 17. He will be returning to Lincoln to take part in an elite quarterback camp held by the Nebraska coaches. He will also be attending the Nike camp on May 22.
