Huskers Host New Mexico Monday and Tuesday

Lincoln - After its first road sweep of Kansas State since 1996, the Nebraska baseball team returns home for a two-game series with New Mexico. First pitch for Monday's game is set for 6:35 p.m. with an afternoon matinee set for Tuesday at 1:35 p.m. Tickets for both games are available by calling the NU Ticket Office (800-8-Big Red) or at Hawks Field, beginning 90 minutes prior to first pitch.

Monday evening's game will be carried on the Pinnacle Sports Network (check local stations for broadcast availability), while Tuesday's game will be available on KRNU (90.3 FM) in Lincoln, as both games will have audio on In addition, live video streaming of both games will be available on HuskersNside.

The Huskers enter the two-game set with a 21-5 mark and have won 14 of their past 15 games. NU will match up against a New Mexico squad that is 10-16-1 and is riding a four-game winning streak of its own after sweeping BYU last weekend.

The Huskers will throw senior Quinton Robertson (2-4, 5.14 ERA) on Monday, as he looks for his second straight win. The right-hander from Richland, Miss., won his last start with five innings of shutout ball against UW-Milwaukee on Wednesday in the Huskers' 9-0 win. On Tuesday, freshman Jon Klausing (0-0, 6.14 ERA) will make his first collegiate start against the Lobos. Klausing tossed 2.1 innings of scoreless relief in NU's 12-9 loss to Kansas on March 28, the last game before the Huskers' current six-game winning streak.

In addition to a pitching staff that set a Big 12 record by not allowing a run in 43.1 straight innings last week, Nebraska's defense has been just as flawless, as the Huskers, who lead the Big 12 with a .979 fielding percentage, have not committed an error in the last 44.1 innings dating back to Tuesday's win over UW-Milwaukee.

This is the second time these teams have meet in 2004, as the Huskers won, 12-8, in Albuquerque on Feb. 21. Following the series with the Lobos, the Huskers, who are on top of the Big 12 standings with a 5-1 mark, will play host to Texas Tech this weekend at Hawks Field.
