He has a valuable combination of size and speed and offers have been coming in. Some very big schools in the east have offered Fitzgerald already.
I'm at eight offers," Fitzgerald said. "I have offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, West Virginia, Boston College, Connecticut, Syracuse and Nebraska. Most of the schools are recruiting me as a defensive end."
Fitzgerald has a great year on both sides of the ball bringing home fist team All-District and All-Region honors as well as second team All-State honors as a defensive end. He was also second team All-District as a tight end.
Last year Fitzgerald had 50 tackles, six sacks, six tackles for loss, three caused fumbles, and three fumbles recovered playing defense. Playing tight end he has 11 receptions of which three were for touchdowns.
"My pass rush is my biggest strength. I have quick hands and I use my height advantage over defenders. I probably like to play like Jason Taylor of the Miami Dolphins. He's taller and really fast."
Although he is holding eight offers Jeffrey isn't claiming a leader. Instead he is saying it is wide open for his services and distance will not be an issue in choosing a school.
"I will be looking for good academics and athletics. I'll also look at the depth chart and be looking for a good coaching staff. I'm not necessarily looking for early playing time. Not the first year anyway, but eventually I want to play."
Fitzgerald went on to say that if he had to take his official visits tomorrow they would be to Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Syracuse and Nebraska.
Nebraska is easily the most unlike the other schools that have offered Jeffrey based on plain geography. But, that doesn't bother Fitzgerald.
"Not really. I haven't been there yet, but I know that they have a good academic program there. I don't really know too much about the changes taking place there at Nebraska. I know that they got a new head coach. Coach Elmassion is recruiting me for Nebraska."
This summer the only camp Fitzgerald is planning on so far is the Nike camp at Virginia.
