Another VA standout holding Nebraska offer!

Two weeks ago he was up to four offers. In a little over two weeks he is up to 10. Teams are beginning to take note of one of the top players from Virginia this coming year.

Not only is Pat Sheil's stock on the rise, but so is his size. He last update had him coming in at 6-foot-6 and 255. Pat is now coming in at a svelte 275. He is still toting around some exceptional speed for a man that large too with a 5.19 40-yard dash time.

"Yeah, I'm about 275 now. I've been eating, a lot. My bench is up to about 340 now too."

This first offer came from in-state school Virginia. Syracuse and Virginia Tech both followed suit along with Maryland and Wake Forest.

"About two weeks ago I got offers from Wake Forest, Army, and Nebraska. Last week Miami (FL) and Florida offered me on Thursday and Friday respectively. Boston College was the latest to offer me and that was just a couple of days ago."

Nearly all of the schools are recruiting Sheil as an offensive lineman. Syracuse is initially recruiting Sheil as a defensive lineman, but they have mentioned possibly playing offense for them.

"The past few years I have been playing defense. It's fun to run around and go crazy. Offense is fun and it's about the point of the attack. I'd probably say that I prefer to play offense."

"In the end though it all just comes down to playing football in college."

As a defensive lineman Sheil says that his strengths are coming off the ball quickly and his athleticism are a couple of his strengths. "I'm a little rough when I play. I have some intensity. I'm competitive. I have a little fire in me."

On offense Sheil cites that his long arms allow him to get out on a guy. He also attributes his success to his quick feet. "On run-blocking people have a hard time getting around me because of my height and because I am a big guy."

Sheil has his priorities in line and while maybe playing professional football could be an option he is not forgetting about his education.

"I am looking for a school that will prepare me the most for life after football or if I don't make it in football. I want to be able to have that degree that will allow me opportunities because of where it is from."

He is also looking at the schools football program. "I want to go to a school that has a distinguished program. I also want a stable coaching staff there. I also like a good fan base. There is nothing like screaming fans rallying the team when they are playing."

Growing up Pat was a Notre Dame fan. But, since Miami has offered recently that has really shook up his list of favorites.

"Miami would be at the top. Nebraska is up there also. Virginia Tech too. Then Virginia, Florida and Maryland."

And those are just of his offers. Pat is getting mail from all over the nation. He is getting steady mail from Ohio State, USC has his tape and his transcripts and he is hopeful that LSU and Oklahoma will begin to show him more attention.

"My parents, coach and I are starting to eliminate some schools. I'm looking to take an official trip to Miami. I probably won't officially visit Virginia and Virginia Tech because I have been on their campuses numerous times. I may also take an official to USC, Notre Dame and maybe Florida."

Although Nebraska isn't listed as a potential official visit it is early. Additionally Pat already has a trip lined up to see Nebraska.

"I am going to Nebraska is May or June for an unofficial. With their new head coach it provides more experience to the staff and he was in the league. Everything will be more efficient there, faster."

Pat carries a 2.8 GPA and although he has a passing SAT score of 960 he wasn't satisfied with it and will be taking it again.
