"I played safety last year. I played four games my sophomore year at quarterback. I threw for 500 or 600 yards and seven touchdowns in those four games," Wimberly said.
Wimberly has that athleticism that you need to have on the field at every position. He is a 4.5/40 guy who benches twice his weight and squats 350. He also has a 33 inch vertical jump.
His physical talents don't end there when it comes to the football game. Although not all players track it, but Wimberly has some pretty good arm strength.
"I'd say that I could throw it about 60 yards. Throwing is definitely my biggest strength playing quarterback. Actually, maybe accuracy is my biggest strength."
Although Wimberly hasn't pulled in any offers yet that seems to only be a matter of time before someone does offer. He is receiving mail from all over the nation.
Some of the things that Wimberly is considering when picking a college are what type of offense the football team runs and the campus atmosphere.
"I'd like to look into Nebraska some more with Coach Callahan there. That can't be a bad place for a quarterback to go with him there. They are football crazy up there in Nebraska."
Last year Westlake rode into the playoffs only to lose to eventual state champions Galena Park. This year Westlake wants to take it further and a state championship is the goal.
Wimberly attended an Elite 11 camp at Texas A&M. He is also planning to camp at Stanford for the Nike camp in Palo Alto.
