"Actually they are offering me as an outside linebacker," Kelley said. "I am going to play inside linebacker this fall."
"There isn't any difference to me (outside versus inside linebacker). You get a better angle to get to the ball from the outside."
He's up to around ten offers with the first one coming from LSU and the latest from UCLA. "SMU, UCLA, Arizona, Kansas State, Texas Tech, Nebraska, LSU and there are a few others."
What does translate well from Kelley's game to any position on the field is speed. "My quickness helps me get off blocks and the read the plays faster. I mess up the whole play by being quick."
So far Kelley has only taken in a three day camp at Kansas State. "It was nice. I liked it a lot. I practiced as a linebacker." He has no other camp plans except for maybe SMU.
Unofficial visits are set to get busy for Kelley though with one planned to Nebraska is July. "I want to also set up one to Arizona. I will set up officials with both of them (Nebraska and Arizona)."
The leaders at this moment for Kelley are Kansas State, Arizona and Nebraska. "Kansas State was really nice. The coaches are real interested in me. It felt like home."
"I've never been to Arizona. It's a great place. They have a new coaching staff. Nebraska is showing high interest in me. They always have a good defense. They are known for their linebackers and they have a new coaching staff."
One interesting side note is that Xavier has a team mate that is also being heavily recruited, Ishie Oduegwu. Although the two are good friends there will not be a package deal necessarily for them.
Xavier is looking at the total picture when it comes to choosing a college. "I am looking at what they can offer me academically. I want to major in computer programming. I also want a winning history and a reputation for winning. I'll look at the city area and its surroundings."
Last year Kelley had 98 tackles, 38 tackles for loss, 15 sacks and four fumble recoveries. He earned All-District and All-Area honors last year as a junior.
