"Righteous D" looking to narrow list

"Righteous D", otherwise known as Derek Nicholson is looking at some tough choices to make. They are good choices mind you, as Nicholson has basically his choice of where he wants to go. With all those choices, he's having to figure out just who makes his final list, going from a whole ton, to some, finally to a chosen few. Nicholson talked about his list, who's likely to make the semi-finals and what chances some other teams have of getting in the mix.

When everyone you like has offered you a scholarship in writing, life is nothing but good. All those choices, a world of options - the only thing now is you have to choose.

From 50 to 40 to 30, somewhere along the line you are going to have to make some tough choices between all those teams you like.

Nicholson is getting down to that point, having narrowed his list to ten, hoping to have it to 5 by September.

Here's how his current list looks right now:

Clemson, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Miami (FL), North Carolina, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Nebraska.

Now, Nicholson wants to be down to a final five by September.

So, what's the criteria? The usual, academics, tradition, opportunity to play early, etc. But, the thing that is really going to sell Derek is actually seeing the school for himself. "You have to be there to really know what it's like." Derek said. "Only those places I have gotten a chance to see before my season are the only ones that will have a chance at my top five.

Here is how THAT list looks right now:

Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida State, Clemson, Georgia, Virginia Tech and North Carolina.

That leaves Miami, Oklahoma and Nebraska as the odd teams out, at least for now.

For Sooner fans and Husker fans and of course Miami fans, what's the odds on him making a visit to there right now. "Well, I'd say about fifty-fifty right now." Derek said. "Really, the biggest thing is being able to swing the trips as far as finances. I know I want to visit, especially Nebraska, but I'm not sure that it will be possible. We'll see. I hope I can visit everyone that is left on my list."

Derek has his September deadline to get all his unofficial visits in and after that, he's going to do what he can to widdle it down to five. There's almost an entire month though, before that happens, so Derek is hoping that between now and then, most of his questions will be answered. "Everyone tells me that I need to have this thing cut down by the time coaches can call or it gets crazy." Derek said. "So, I'm hoping that by that time everyone will know what that five is."
