Heck, it couldn't even stop him on Monday from going to see Illinois. Speaking with Eric's father, Rich who is also strength and conditioning coach, he had some information about the unofficial to Illinois and the up-coming trip to Nebraska.
"The trip to Illinois was good. We went to Illinois on Monday morning. We met with Coach Dan Roushar and toured the facilities and met the other coaches. We also met up with the academic advisors and that was very good. It's interesting how they guide people through academic situations," Mr. Hedstrom said.
This isn't the first time that The Hedstrom's have been to the Illinois campus. Track meets are held there that Eric participates in and he knows his way around. Eric left Illinois without committing Rich Hedstrom also said.
On Friday, despite being nearly 20 pounds down from a case of the flu, Eric was hopping the in the car for a 10 hour drive to Lincoln to see Nebraska.
"We leave in the morning and will get there that night. We will spend all day with the coaches and head back tomorrow night (Friday). On Monday we check out equipment and get ready for our own practices to start."
Eric is a highly anticipated unofficial visit. Eric is a 4-star rated offensive tackle and is currently rated as the No. 30 offensive tackle in the country according to The Insiders.
There is a unique relationship that Eric already shares with Head Coach Bill Callahan. Eric's high school coach, Coach Scully, was coached at Illinois by none other than Bill Callahan. Eric's coach has had nothing but great words to tell The Hedstrom's about Nebraska's new head coach.
