Nebraska will get visit from super TX DE

One of the positions that Nebraska is looking to get some recruits at that can contribute early is defensive end. Nebraska is looking to backfill the loss of one starter at the defensive end position at a position that is in need of some young talent. They may be on the right track to pull one out of Texas that is just that!

Through three games McKinner Dixon and Lufkin (Texas) are undefeated. That is saying something in Texas. Not only are they undefeated though, they knocked off No. 3 Tyler Lee and are likely looking to make a strong run at this year's 5A championship.

"We've played Aldine Eisenhower, Tyler Lee, and Nacogdoches," Dixon said. "I've been doing pretty good so far. I'm somewhere around 20-25 tackles on the season and three sacks."

Dixon comes from a hotbed for recruiting. His cousin, Alton Dixon, is on the same team this year and has multiple Div. I offers. Lufkin is also home to Texas A&M quarterback Reggie McNeal among others.

McKinner admittedly is blowing off recruiting a little bit because of his focus on the season. He has been getting calls from everyone since coaches could start calling, but that is playing a distant second to the season.

Despite his focus on the season McKinner has tentatively set up some official visits. The problem could be that his team could be playing still this December which may cause him to have to reschedule.

"Well I've set some up, but I may be in the playoffs. I've set up two of the visits to Nebraska and to Kansas State. I'm going to Nebraska on December 10-12 and to Kansas State December 14-16."

It is believed that if Lufkin were to challenge for the 5A title all the way to the championship game that they could be playing all the way up to the week before Christmas. That would cause him to have to reschedule both the Nebraska and Kansas State visits.

The road will not be an easy one for Lufkin and McKinner as they have to face Klein Forest and The Woodlands. The Woodlands just recently found themselves in a re-match of the 5A championship with Galena Park Northshore with Northshore taking this latest game again.

McKinner is still holding 14 offers and is thinking still about who may get the other three visits. He knows who will probably get two of the other three visits though.

"I haven't been thinking about it too much right now. Those are two that I knew that I could get out of the way (Nebraska and Kansas State). I'm planning on going to Miami and I'm going to Washington. Basically a visit to wach time zone."

Turner Gill from Nebraska has been recruiting Dixon. "I have spoke to him a couple of different times since September 1."

Since McKinner has two officials set up and the others pending would he call Nebraska and Kansas State his leaders? "I wouldn't say that they are my leaders right now. I would say Texas Tech and Texas are my leaders."

Among the 19 offers, McKinner is holding offers from both Texas Tech and from Texas.
