Nyan Boateng: He is planning to be in Lincoln this weekend for the Kansas game as a football prospect but also wishes to play basketball in college. He's one of the top wide receivers in the nation as a football prospect; however the reports on Boateng's basketball abilities are very different among the scouts. Some say he should forget about basketball altogether while others rank him as high as the top 200 in America. One scout that I trust raves about his "hops" while yet another had nothing but good things to say about his athleticism, speed in transition and a decent shot. Nonetheless, if he were to commit to the Huskers he'd be on a football scholarship so having him suit up for Barry Collier's basketball team could do nothing but help.
Jeremy Mayfield: Mayfield recently said that he'll be visiting Lincoln on the weekend of October the 30th. One would assume that means the staff will treat him to the football game against Missouri so he could get a feel for the pride Husker fans have in their University. Mayfield would be a great addition to the team as the 2005 class could use another big man. Mayfield stands 6'9" and 210 pounds but could use some bulking up on the collegiate level. Even though, he does a good job rebounding the ball as he averaged 10 boards per game last year as a junior. Currently Nebraska along with Kansas State sits atop Mayfield's list.
Marcus Walker: Marcus could be the icing on the cake for the class of 2005. He's listed as a four star recruit according the theinsiders' recruiting database and can play either guard position. Last week Walker eliminated Arkansas from his list and is now down to Duquesne, Kansas State, Missouri and Nebraska. Don't let the fact that he lists the Dukes fool you however, this kid can play. Marcus is currently planning to visit Lincoln sometime in October.
