Lorenzo Jones from Mckinney, TX has recently shown up on the radar screen of the Nebraska Cornhuskers as a defensive prospect that NU would like to take a long gander at. He's currently being looked at by much of the Big XII conference, so what are Nebraska's chances at the large young man from the Lone Star State?
Lorenzo Jones is a name that many don't know just yet in
recruiting circles, but that's about to change. The 6' 4", 293-pound defensive tackle
prospect from Mckinney, Texas has a number of Big XII conference schools talking,
one of those being Nebraska. Lorenzo currently claims both a verbal
and written offer from the University
of Nebraska along with Iowa State, Oklahoma,
Oklahoma State and Texas.
Lorenzo be making a trip to Nebraska to see
Lincoln? "Probably next Saturday, for the
game. I'm just coming in looking to
see what it's all about," said Jones.
Indeed, he'll be treated to a matchup that has gotten quite heated over
the past several years as Nebraska takes on
Colorado for a
bowl bid and a shot at the Big XII North crown.
Coach Turner Gill is recruiting Lorenzo and, so far, has made a solid
impression with the young man. "I
talked to him a couple times and he sounds like a really good guy. He's always calling and writing a lot,"
Jones said. Jones currently states
his Top Five as Oklahoma, Texas, Iowa State,
Nebraska and Arizona.
Lorenzo says that, currently, all five schools are on the same
level. Lorenzo's team has ended
their season with Jones ending his senior campaign with 87 tackles, 7 sacks and
19 tackles for loss.
