Norvell takes in-home with PA DT

Husker coaches have been busy lately to take to time to hit key target's homes and spend some time with them. This past Friday, Coach Jay Norvell, was in Pennsylvania to meet with a defensive tackle who Nebraska has offered.

Joe Blanks had a great season although his team lost in the first round of the playoffs. Coming off of a knee injury, it was imperative that Blanks had a good season and work hard on getting his grades up to get qualified to play division I football.

Blanks season ended with almost 60 total tackles from his defensive tackle position. "We lost in the first round of the playoffs. I did make all-district as a defensive tackle this year. For section six I made honors for offense and defense," Blanks said.

Blanks is getting into his official visits and has some set up to start in December. "On December 17 I have an official set up to go to Nebraska. After that I really want to visit Akron. Their coaches really want to get tme in for a visit."

The last time that Big Red Report caught up with Blanks he said that a few teams were coming on strong and might offer. Any news with that? "I haven't heard so much from them now. I'm not really sure. The thing that they are probably waiting for is my tape. I'm still getting it together."

Coach Jay Norvell from Nebraska has been recruiting Blanks. In fact, the Nebraska coaching staff was just in-house with Blanks this past Friday. "They just came to see me on Friday. We just talked about them still wanting me, but I messed around my freshman year and my grades suffered. I am working real hard to get them in order. I am looking into seeing what it will take to get me cleared."

"I don't think that there is a lot of questions about whether or not I will get qualified. I am working hard and I think that I will be fine."

Nebraska also offered a team mate of Joe's, Andre Mathis, what is the word on him and Nebraska? "Andre is at Ohio State right now. He's narrowed it down pretty much to Ohio State, Tennessee and Michigan State. I think that he is still going with me to Nebraska though on the 17th."
