Husker Wrestlers Start Hot, Beat Missouri

The 6th-ranked Nebraska wrestling team won its first four matches and never looked back in its 26-12 victory over No. 12 Missouri Saturday at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Mo.

The dual started with second-ranked 184-pound wrestler Travis Pascoe stretching his winning streak to 20 with a 7-4 win over tenth-ranked Matt Pell. B.J. Padden, the 12th-ranked 197-pound wrestler, followed with a 2-0 victory over No. 17 Jeff Foust. At heavyweight, Nebraska's Mitch Manstedt beat Chase Wetenkamp of Missouri, 9-4. No. 8 Matt Keller gave the Huskers their first bonus-point win with a pin of Tim Kephart just 1:06 into their match at 125 pounds.

After a victory by Missouri's Tyler McCormick at 133 pounds, seventh-ranked 141-pound wrestler Matt Murray all but clinched the dual for NU with an 18-2 victory by technical fall over No. 16 Chris McCormick. Chris Nedens followed at 149 pounds with a 6-4 upset win over No. 14 Cody Greene of Missouri. B.J. Wright, ranked seventh at 157 pounds, defeated 15th-ranked Brad Cieleski, 7-5.

No. 9 165-pound wrestler Tyron Woodley broke Nebraska's second four-match winning streak of the night with a 6-4 win over fourth-ranked Jacob Klein. The dual closed with top-ranked Ben Askren winning by fall at 174 pounds.

With the win, Nebraska moves to 16-1-1 on the year. The Huskers are off until Feb. 10, when they take No. 1 Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. at the NU Coliseum.
