Three offers and rising for big OT

The teams that recruit East Texas know what to expect. It is a talent rich region. One of the more well known towns/areas to recruit is Longview, Texas. This year there happens to be a huge offensive tackle that is already holding three offers and is getting attention from some of the nation's best teams.

Remember the name Trent Williams because you will be hearing more about him this year hauling in offers and in two years he will be on the college scene. The 6-foot-6 and 300 pound Williams has the athletic ability you look for in a tackle.

Williams has a 5.0/40 time to go along with the height and weight of a prototypical book-end tackle. He carries very good strength numbers too with 470 pound squat and a 320 pound hang clean. He is also fully academically eligible with a 2.6 GPA and a passing score on the ACT.

Despite his team not keeping stats for offensive linemen, he got some district and national honors last year that would indicate that he is not just one of the best players in the state of Texas, but in the nation.

"I got second team all-district, top-junior selection by an Internet site and was voted a Top 50 Juniors in the nation. It was an all-junior team by another Internet site," Williams said.

The honors are one thing and the offers are another. In the end they really are just reinforcing the idea that Williams will be one of the players that people will be following by name this year.

"I have three offers from Houston, Arizona and LSU. I am getting a lot of interest from Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Iowa. I am most interested in LSU, Arizona, Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma right now."

Williams is going to do his best to hit multiple camps this year after only going to one last year. "I went to one camp last year. I went to Texas A&M's mini-camp."

"We were going to get together, me and some other guys from my team, so they can get their names out there. I think that we are going to try and make Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and the Nike combine at TCU. I haven't made up my mind on that yet."

When it comes to Williams the size stands out on paper. When you ask him to talk about his strengths his size isn't even mentioned. "I have got good, quick feet when I pass block. I like run blocking the best though. We run the ball more than we throw it. We run the I-formation and the option. I play left tackle."

Williams is hearing from a lot of teams in the Big 12 and, just recently, Nebraska has started to have interest in the standout from Longview (Texas). "I haven't really gotten that much stuff from Nebraska. I got a couple of letters from them. I would like to get more. They just came in the past couple of weeks."
