Newest Nebraska offer received today

While Nebraska may be at the mid-point for the spring practice season, it isn't slowing them down on the recruiting trail. Nebraska's newest offer showed up today at the school of one of the top linebackers in the nation. Can Nebraska compete with the likes of Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State for this player's services?

Well offering him doesn't hurt. Akeem Hebron is a 6-foot-2 and 195 pound linebacker from Wharton (Md.) Our Lady Good Counsel who was a little surprised with the latest offer.

"Yes, I got a Nebraska offer this morning," Hebron said. "My coach called and told me about it. I have only been in contact with Nebraska through mail before."

Hebron is holding an even dozen offers right now, but he isn't done with the Hurricanes looking to possibly throw their hat into the Hebron sweepstakes. "Tennessee, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Syracuse, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, LSU, Kansas and Penn State plus one other. I think that Miami is close to offering. That is all I can think of right now."

Hebron is having a good problem when it comes to getting offers. "Most of the schools that I have contacted have offered me. I am just sending film out to all of the schools and I am getting offered."

When you see Hebron on paper you see good size at 6-foot-2 and nearly 200 pounds, plus he has excellent speed in the 40 at 4.45 seconds. "I think that I have good feet. I can get to the ball. I had 110 tackles, 11 sacks, 5 quarterback hurries and two interceptions."

As of right now there are some schools that are standing out to Hebron. That doesn't mean that he is about to end the process. He is still open to new schools and new interest. "I have interest in Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Virginia Tech. Distance isn't a big thing at all when it comes to picking out a school. I will go anywhere."

While Nebraska has failed to make Hebron's current list of leaders it isn't because he isn't interested, but he needs more information on The Cornhuskers. "I haven't really talked to them before. I was kind of surprised. I just knew that my coach sent them film. It's a school that I am still interested in and I have to look into them more."

This spring's plans for Hebron include only a couple of unofficial visits and one camp as of right now. "I'll probably go to a couple spring games. I haven't figured out which ones. The only camp that I will probably hit will be the Nike Camp at Penn State."
