Another QB for the mix?

There's been a lot of names that have surfaced as possible candidates for one of the top two spots on NU's QB depth chart. Most of the time, the names talked about in there are that of Zac Taylor and Jordan Adams. Well, there's one QB that might have taken a step into at least putting his name into the mind of the coaches as someone who wants a crack. And, he might just make that happen.

When today's full scrimmage was expected to be a noticeable battle between Zac Taylor and Joe Dailey, Beau Davis comes out to shine with the reps he received, at one point taking the Huskers down the field on a 15-play drive, ending up in a one-yard Marque McCray touchdown.

During that drive, Davis was 6-7 for approx. 38 yards. "I thought Beau stepped up and did some excellent things." Head coach, Bill Callahan said.

In his first series, Davis struggled somewhat, going 3-7 on his first drive, ultimately throwing an interception to Chris LeFlore in the end zone.

After he settled down, though, Davis was delivering the ball effectively and even scrambled 4 times, totaling 21 yards, gaining first downs with two of those runs.

If you use total reps as any indicator as to where the quarterback situation sits, on the day, Davis was virtually even with the incumbent Joe Dailey.

Callahan reiterated, however, that the QB situation is still totally wide-open. "We'll continue to evaluate and look forward to working them physically next week and prepare for the spring game."
