Rob Overton Has Two Favorites

In catching up with Moreau Catholic High School's Rob Overton, we were able to sit down with one of the tight ends that Nebraska is pursuing and has been after from the get go. Rob discusses his plans for the off-season along with his top two schools at this point. Find out just who Overton prefers at this juncture and what each school offers.

When you're looking to have an offense that can pass effectively and often, having a big, mobile tight end never hurts the equation.  That's just what Nebraska hopes to pick up on Rob Overton, a 6'5", 224 pounds tight end out of California.  Rob mentioned that he's currently being actively recruited by the Cornhuskers, Georgia Tech, California and Oklahoma with the Yellow jackets doing the heaviest recruiting in Ron's eyes.

Currently, Overton only holds the offer from Nebraska and he has for quite some time.  He informed me, however, that Georgia Tech has sent an offer and he is expecting it any day.  Nebraska has been sure to keep up with the correspondence sending Overton a good number of handwritten letters from the coaching staff.  So what have the Cornhusker head honchos been writing him about?  "Just that they hope to be in touch soon and make sure to get stuff done," he said.  Nebraska wants to make sure Rob has all of his grades and information available once they come to visit.

Rob has been ironing out his plans for this summer and, as many of the top prospects across the country do, he is planning on attending a few camps to hone his skills.  "I'm going to the West Coast Football Camp in Santa Barbara with the top 200 football players in California.  I'll also be going to the Nike Camp at Stanford on May 21st.  I might try to get to a receivers camp this summer, too," said Overton.

Only two schools have qualified for visits in Overton's eyes and that duo of institutions are his current favorites: Nebraska and Georgia Tech.  Said Overton of Georgia Tech, "I hear Atlanta's a nice place in Georgia and the coach seems to be real nice.  From what I can tell they have real nice facilities.  Also, I think I could play there as a freshman," he said.  So what does Nebraska bring to the table?  "They have coaches that have been in the NFL and they look like they want to improve on their program a lot," he said.  We'll continue to bring you the latest and greatest from this tight end prospect as the recruiting trail moves on.
