Eric Thatcher, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound defensive back from Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller will be among the top defensive prospects in the Midwest for the 2002 season.
Thatcher will be four-year starter for Moeller. His freshman and sophomore seasons he played free safety. Last season, Eric played running back and wide receiver as well as defensive back.
Which position will he play at the next level?
"I really don't know, probably cornerback or safety." Thatcher said. "I can play on either side of the ball. I just want to get on the field."
Thatcher was named all-state (Honorable Mention) in 2001 and he was also named all-city and GCL conference player of the year.
Eric says he doesn't have a scholarship offer but several schools have been in contact.
"I've been getting hand written mail from Ohio State, Pitt, Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Nebraska and Boston College.
My top five right now would be Ohio State, Tennessee, Nebraska, Boston College and West Virginia." Thatcher said.
Thatcher said he that he doubts he'll commit early. He wants to take his official visits before making any kind of commitment.
