Huskers still in contention for top RB

Nebraska is looking for another great running back. They were successful last year in their quest and again they have gone looking for the best. The Huskers are in the running for one of the best in the nation from Florida, but will he be able to overlook the distance to Nebraska?

No one needed to qualify C.J. Spiller as one of the best running backs in the nation, but Scout.com did. C.J. was recently in the South Hot 100, but beyond that was the top running back on the list and came in at No. 6.

Spiller has been busy since school got out a couple of weeks ago having already taken in a couple of unofficial visits. "We've been out of school for probably two weeks," Spiller said. "I went on vacation and had a chance to visit Tennessee and then we went to the Football Hall of Fame and I visited Ohio State."

Beyond the unofficial visits that he has already taken, Spiller is looking at some camps that could be starting up as soon as next week. "I might attend the Florida State camp, again. Then I think that some of my teammates are going to attend the Florida camp next week."

Spiller is well over 20 offers now and is going to start the process of narrowing things down a bit. He will be on the Internet this weekend researching schools and looking to who might be some schools that he would like to visit.

"I am up to 22 or 23 offers right now. I am going to start narrowing things down a bit this weekend. I am going to get on the computer and start doing some research. I need to start looking into the schools and see if they are the right one for me and my family."

Those 22 or 23 offers include two offers that we just recently received. "I just got offers from Auburn and USC. They were pretty big offers. Auburn just lost both of their running backs. With USC, it's across the country, but it's a great place to go play football."

While he has yet to really research the schools that he has offered, he is looking at taking two official visits to the last two schools to offer. He also has three other schools that as of right now he would like to visit.

"I think that my first official will be to USC. I also got a letter asking me to come to an official visit to Auburn in January and that will probably be my second one. I want to go to USC, Auburn, Oklahoma, Tennessee and maybe Texas. I don't have offers from Oklahoma and Texas."

While he would like to visit USC, Oklahoma and Texas there are one thing about those three schools that stand in the way: distance. He is addressing that right now. "That is one thing that I have prayed about, because right now it is a big thing. If it becomes a factor, it will be a big factor."

One school that might have an edge in getting an official is Nebraska. Nebraska not only wants C.J. to visit, but his cousin. Both he and his cousin are talking about taking at least one trip to a school where they hold a mutual offer for.

"I have an offer from Nebraska. I was talking to their coach about taking an official to Nebraska. I would like to visit Nebraska. I like their offense."
