It could be argued that Smith has a lot in common with the current Nebraska defensive ends of Jay Moore and Adam Carriker. What really helps the comparison is speed. They all have it. Smith is known to have a 4.8/40 time.
"Things are going good right now," Smith said. "We just started a work out program and that is going good."
While Smith has been very busy hitting the weights and working on his conditioning since his baseball season ended, he hasn't forgot about his recruiting. In fact, he has his first official visit set.
"I am going to take an official visit to Nebraska on October 8 to see them play Texas Tech."
Setting up official visits isn't all that Smith has been up to lately. He has been keeping in touch with everyone that has offered and some others that seem to be close to offering.
"I just got an offer from Oregon State. I guess that I didn't have that the last time I talked to you. Oregon and Utah both said that they were going to offer too."
Besides the new offer and the two that are seemingly on their way, Smith is getting attention from some other schools that seems promising. "I am talking to Notre Dame, LSU, Cal and UCLA too."
Smith's stock may be ready to go through the roof. For the Huskers though, it's clear that both parties involved have a high, mutual interest in one another right now.
