Three schools are standing out to Atkins who is looking at the hometown Trojans right now as his leader. "Right now I am looking at USC. I am also looking at Washington and LSU. Those are my top three right there."
Atkins has exceptional speed for his size which would allow him to play all three linebacker positions. He also has the size to possibly play some defensive end too. "I'm traditionally a MIKE. I can play outside too and defensive end. I'll put my hand down in a minute on the line of scrimmage."
Last year Anthony put together a solid season and is being considered as one of the top linebackers in the nation this year. "I had 89 tackles and 9 sacks last year. I made unanimous all-conference. I was pre-season All-American for this year and was picked as one of the top linebackers in the CCCCA."
Atkins is just a natural linebacker. His speed allows him to make plays, but it's knowing how to make the right reads that makes him really successful. "I'm a downhill guy. I can play inside the box or I can play sideline to sideline. I think that I have linebacker down pat. I am good at reading guards."
Out of high school Atkins did not have the grades to qualify for college, but since having attended Compton C.C. he is on the right track. "I played high school call at Long Beach (Calif.) Jordan. I committed to Oregon State out of high school, but my grades weren't there."
"Right now I have a 3.2 GPA. I will be ready to leave in December."
Atkins hasn't thought about official visits too much, but has a good idea where he will take two visits as of right now. "I haven't thought about any official visits really, but there is one place that I will probably take an official and that is to LSU. I'll probably go to Colorado too."
The defensive tackle from Compton C.C. last year that is now at Nebraska, Ola Dagundero, played in front of Anthony last year. It is also a reason why he would seriously consider attending Nebraska and Ola has spoke to him about it as well.
"I know Ola Dagundero. Nebraska is another place I am going to look at because I know that I can play linebacker behind him. Nebraska is a school that I would consider."
Nebraska has also offered Compton C.C. quarterback Ashley Palmer, but as a safety. The 6-foot-2 and 210 pound Palmer and Atkins are real close and have recently spoke about attending the same division one school as a package deal.
"Me and Ashley Palmer are talking about going somewhere as a package deal. Coach John Blake is recruiting both of us. He is a cool guy. He is going to tell you what he likes and what he doesn't like. He cuts to the chase. I respect that in a coach. I like Coach Blake."
