Another from McClymonds has Nebraska offer

Talk about stacked and you would probably think about Oakland (Calif.) McClymonds. They are going to have a very talented team this year. Already Nebraska has offered NaDerris Ward and Josh Tatum. Now Nebraska is going after a guy that literally does it all for their team.

Nebraska recently entered the race for Rico Thomas from Oakland (Calif.) McClymonds. The 6-foot and 175 pound Thomas is feeling the effects of a long and grueling summer that has him and his teammates working hard to let their actions do the talking on the field this fall.

"I'm sick right now," Thomas said. "I have just been working myself too hard lately. We have been conditioning to passing drills and seven on seven. I haven't had a break. We have been working out as a team. I have been doing well. I have been getting better."

"We'll be good. Dorsey has been talking a lot. We are looking forward to playing some teams that have been talking a lot. We're going to get them. They have theirs coming."

Thomas has silently been building a stockpile of offers from some of the best in college football. Thomas is currently holding offers from Wisconsin, UNLV, Utah, Washington State, Oregon, Nebraska, New Mexico State, Nevada and San Diego State.

"I am up to eight or nine offers right now. I really don't have any leaders. Everything is even."

Thomas is going to take in an unofficial in a couple of weeks to one of the schools that has already offered. "I am going August 12 to Nevada for an unofficial. I haven't thought about where I will take my official visits."

When it comes to picking out a school it is going to come down to feeling comfortable and at home there for Thomas. He is looking for a tight group of players and coaches. "I am looking for a good environment. I want to get along with the players and the coaches. I am kind of looking to stay closer to home."

One school that has offered that isn't necessarily close to home for Thomas is Nebraska. Are they just too far away for Thomas to consider? "I am interested in Nebraska, a lot. I don't have a problem going far away to play ball. Nebraska is looking at me as a defensive back."

Thomas is being recruited to play offense and defense for college, but the greater share of the attention is for Thomas on defense. Thomas has a compact frame at 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds. He carries a high 4.5 40-yard dash time, but has great strength like with his almost 300 pound bench press.

"It's kind of half and half. Some teams like me as a defensive back and other teams like me as a running back or a wide receiver."
