Turner lights up scrimmage this weekend

You're a nationally rated wide receiver. You have teams looking at you from all over the nation and are talking about scholarships. Some just want another look at you this fall. That's when you realize that your team is changing their offense. For Terrell Turner, he is making the best of it.

For those that don't know about Garland (Texas) Lakeview Centennial's offense before this year would never had guessed that they were a 4-wide, spread offense. They still had great running backs, but it was an offense for a receiver to shine.

Terrell Turner was going to get a shot to really shine as a senior with another year with the same quarterback, but a coaching change forced an offensive strategy change. Let's just say that Turner is learning how to cope by still making opposing defenses look silly.

"Yeah I did (make them look silly), just a little bit," Turner said. "I had well over 100 yards."

"There was one throw, the first play of the fourth quarter, that if I get that ball in stride I take it in for a score. I did a stop and go to set the tone. They tackled me on the 21 and we started on the 30."

What Terrell was upset about more than not getting the ball in stride was his team not capping the catch with a touchdown. Turner still ended up with a very good day and it is finally beginning to click.

"I think that I at least seven receptions, over 100 yards and no scores. The offense is getting better though. We are getting more offensive-minded."

While the season is getting ready to get under way the offers haven't stopped rolling in despite it being a quiet period for recruiting. His latest offer puts him well into double-digits in his total, but still only has one official visit set. That will change soon.

"The latest offer I got was from Minnesota. I have been talking to their coach for a while now. I now have 12 or 13 offers. I just have the official set to Nebraska right now. I have to get on setting those up."
