Jones tearing it up on the field

The Huskers came away with their top defensive back prospect, and possibly their top overall prospect, Zac Bowman last year. This year they have another junior college defensive back atop their recruiting board. He is heading to Nebraska next weekend with his teammate.

Andre Jones isn't just atop the Nebraska recruiting board, but a lot of school's recruiting boards. Jones is a 6-foot and 195 pound defensive back from Fresno (Calif.) City College.

"I am having a good season," Jones said. "I am just trying to stay consistent on the field. As of right now I have three interceptions and returned one for a touchdown. We're 3-1."

"We are going to win it. Man, our defense is awesome. We are going to take it. We can win state this year. I just can't wait to get back and San Francisco though. They beat us pretty bad. We have re-grouped."

Beyond the season on the field, Jones is having a good season of recruiting too. He has one official visit coming up in two weeks.

"It's going good. I have one official visit set to Nebraska for October 7. I haven't been to Nebraska before. I am going to see the environment of where I could possibly be going. I also want to meet the coaches and see the team unity."

Can anything be read into the fact that he only has one official set up and that it is to Nebraska? "Nebraska so far is my leader. That is the only one so far."

Jones has a lot of offers to choose from at the moment. "I have offers from Nebraska, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Utah, Kansas State and Central Florida. I am not looking at any other schools as of right now."

The weekend that Jones takes his official to Nebraska, he isn't coming alone. He is bringing one of his teammates from Fresno with him. "I am heading to Nebraska with Steve Allen. He is a middle linebacker. He's a beast."
