First BCS poll is out: Huskers come in at #23

The first BCS poll of the year is out and the usual suspects find themselves at the top. What perhaps wasn't expected, though, is that the Huskers debut on the list at number 23. The Huskers, following their first road win of the year and an overall 5-1 record stand as one of the top teams in the Big 12. Check out the full BCS poll below.

Nebraska debuts on the first BCS poll of the year at number 23, joining fellow conference teams; Texas (2) and Texas Tech (7).

The Huskers lost to the seventh ranked Red Raiders in Lincoln, Texas Tech escaping as defensive tackle Le Kevin Smith intercepted a Cody Hodges pass. If Smith had fallen to the ground, retaining possession, Nebraska would have needed to just run out the clock.

Smith fumbled the interception, however, Texas Tech recovering and scoring shoretly thereafter to give them the three point victory.
