The Nebraska men's basketball team took a little time away from its off day to get out in the community and share a little fun with some children as it participated in the opening of 'Boo at the Zoo' on Wednesday. The Huskers were on hand for the opening ceremonies at the Folsom Children's Zoo, which included emcee Kevin Cosgren from KLKN along with Mayor Seng.
The Huskers spent an hour at the zoo, handing out candy and signing autographs for the kids. Several hundred children and parents went through the line and, according to the organizers, enjoyed the time seeing the Huskers in a setting other than at the Devaney Center.
"This was a great opportunity for us to give back a little time to the community," Nebraska Director of Basketball Operations Tim Waller said. "It was our day off from practice and was a chance for us to get out and give back to the fans of all ages. It was fun not only for the children that came through, but for the team itself."
Nebraska returns to practice Thursday to continue prepartion for its first exhibition game just under two weeks from now, on Nov. 7 against Nebraska-Omaha.
