Did Jones make it in for official?

One of the biggest recruiting targets for Nebraska, figuratively and literally, was in-state born and grown D.J. Jones. Jones is a Scout.com, 4-star rated offensive tackle that gave Nebraska a very early commitment and also satisfied part of a huge need for tackles in this class.

D.J. Jones from Omaha (Nebr.) Central was supposed to make it in for his official visit this weekend. A weekend that would have allowed him to mingle with one of the largest recruiting weekends for Nebraska.

"I couldn't take my visit," Jones said. "We made the playoffs and we had practice on Friday and Saturday."

Although he was supposed to have practice on Saturday, Jones contemplating skipping the practice and leaving Omaha on Friday night to make the official.

"I spoke to Bryan Heard about that and he just told me to stay and help my team win. I will be taking my official on December 9 and 10 for the football banquet."

Jones team is looking to make a statement in the playoffs. The Central team doesn't have a perfect record, but are still a dangerous team nonetheless. Jones and Central will get a revenge game for the first round.

"We ended the year at 5-4. We are set to play Creighton Prep and they are 6-3. They beat us by two touchdowns, but the last touchdown we basically gave to them because our third string was in."

Despite knowing the opponent and knowing that it is a Wednesday night game, no one knows what venue will be used yet. Prep will be setting the venue early this week.
