McCarthy planning to still visit Nebraska

Nebraska was able to dip into Florida a bit last year and able to pull some talent out of the state. This year, Nebraska finds themselves in a town of a commit from last year, but at a different school. Last year Nebraska was able to go into Florida and pull out Harrison Beck from Clearwater (Flor.) Countryside, but this year Nebraska has their eyes on a linebacker from another high school in Clearwater. Can Nebraska pull a second player out of Clearwater, Flor.?

Colin McCarthy is a very busy man. Between trying to meet deadlines on school work, he is preparing for a game tomorrow night and talking to coaches. The 6-foot-1 and 210 pound McCarthy from Clearwater (Flor.) Central Catholic is setting up a visit for this weekend among other things as well.

"He is talking to a college coach right now," Mrs. McCarthy said. "I am not sure who."

"He is actually in the process on getting a visit set up for this weekend to Indiana. I am guessing that he is waiting on the flight information, but he hasn't received it from them."

At one time, McCarthy was planning on taking an official visit to Nebraska on November 12. Is that still a go? "I know that he and his father are planning on it. I think that they are in the process of solidifying it, but I am not sure that has happened."

While the season is still in swing for McCarthy at least one honor has already rolled in for him and two of his teammates.

"Apparently him and two of his teammates were picked to play in the Cali-Florida Bowl game. He received a call from the coach on Tuesday. They are supposed to leave the day after practice and stay out there until the game."

There is still one district game to be played, per Mrs. McCarthy, but the district title already belongs Central Catholic. "They have a game tomorrow night. They already won their district and start their playoffs the following week."

One thing that often times gets overlooked in recruiting is all of the other things that are going on in a player's senior year and how recruiting is just another thing that a recruit needs to do during a very busy year. "He is busy. It's hard. It's been an overwhelming process, but it's been fun. He needs to enjoy the moment."
