Scout TV: DE, Rulon Davis

Check out our player analysis and video on the 10th commit of the class of 2006, Defensive End Rulon Davis.

As the 10th commit of the class of 2006, Rulon Davis is also the fourth junior college pledge for the future of the Big Red. A tall, but sturdy two way prospect, the defensive end/tight end has the versatility to be both quick and physical at the line of scrimmage.

At 6 foot, 6 inches tall, Davis shows good quickness off the line, but is especially good at making a horizontal step to get round the blocker and he has decent agility in bending in on the pass rush.

Davis uses his hands well, is aggressive and has a good motor. You will see by the video that he doesn't stop on a play.

Rulon also shows some extremely good athleticism in coveraged and as you would expect, on players much smaller and quicker than he is.

Nebraska is looking good in the short term at the rush end position with juniors Adam Carriker and Jay Moore both likely being back for next year. Plus, they have the fab freshman Barry Turner, who offers that speed rushing capability, but with good enough physicality that he isn't overwhelmed by tackles. Add that to capable back ups in Ty Steinkuhler and Adam Blankenship, there's going to be some great competition at the position.

If Davis wasn't seen as a guy who could compete, though, and even take one of the spots for his own, he would even be considering Nebraska right now.

Davis has said that he was told his projection is opposite Adam Carriker next year, if he can beat out the current starter, Moore.
