Brown prepares for visit this weekend

There is a piece of mind that one might need after committing early. Sometimes schools are more open to player taking a look around after committing than others, but when it comes to trying to retain a commitment of a four-star defensive end then you will do everything in your power. Jerry Brown has opened things back up a bit and is ready for his second official this weekend.

Jerry Brown is heading out to his second official visit this weekend. The 6-foot-5 and 260 pound defensive end/tight end from St. Louis (Mo.) Vashon is headed out of town for Thanksgiving weekend on his second official visit.

"I got to Oklahoma this weekend," Brown said. "It is an official visit."

Brown's season ended in district play. They had a solid year, but Brown's year was unbelievable. "We actually lost our last game in districts. We ended up being 6-4. I had 97 tackles, 13 sacks, and one interception on defense. On offense I had one touchdown and three catches for 40 yards."

Most schools are giving Brown his main recruiting attention to play defense. However, a handful of schools are looking at Brown to play tight end after a combine performance. "Yeah, I actually am. My performance at the U.S. Army All-American combine and a lot of coaches liked me at tight end in my ones on ones."

Brown has it down to six schools and has five officials set up. "I am still considering Illinois, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Missouri, Louisville and Tennessee. I go up to Oklahoma this weekend, Illinois next weekend, Missouri the weekend after that and then the first weekend in January I go to Tennessee."

Following his last official visit, Brown will plan on making his decision. "I will probably have a decision sometime in January or maybe by the end of January."

Brown originally committed to Illinois, but has since opened things back up. Would he still consider himself committed to Illinois and what are the chances that he thinks he will end up at Illinois? "I am still softly committed to Illinois. There is a chance that I won't be in Illinois and there is a chance that I will be in Illinois."

Brown took his first official visit to see Nebraska. The coach recruiting Brown for Nebraska is defensive coordinator, Kevin Cosgrove. "Nebraska is still staying on top of me. Coach Kevin Cosgrove is cool. He's a great coach."
