Lee leaves Nebraska impressed

One player whose hype still hasn't caught up with him is Gerard Lee from Scottsdale (Ariz.) City College. Lee was a heralded defensive tackle out of high school in Louisiana, committed to Oklahoma and is now in Arizona. Beyond that, he has only played one year of football since leaving high school in 2003. It's coming around for Lee though.

Gerard Lee casts a big shadow at 6-foot-3 and 285 pounds. Lee is a very athletic defensive tackle and was on his last official visit this weekend to Nebraska. He saw Nebraska when he was a senior in high school back in 2003 and saw some things that were the same as before and some different things.

"The new academic support system, the new facilities and I liked how everything was ran," Lee said. "Everything was just right there. The facilities and coaching staff were entirely different since I was there last time."

Did Lee think about committing while he was in Lincoln? This was his last official visit and maybe there was just a need to see something that he didn't see on his other official visits.

"No, I didn't. I already had it in my mind I wasn't going to commit because I have two other schools that I really like and I have to sit down and think about it. They were trying to get me ever since I got off the plane, really, to commit. They have been pressing me real hard."

Since the plane landed, Lee was asked to commit. How did he keep from just committing? "I told them, 'Nah, I am not committing. I will probably have my decision by the end of the week'. It's down to Utah, Oregon State and Nebraska. I might have that by Wednesday or Thursday."

Lee wasn't the only visitor in town this weekend or even just the only defensive tackle. Lee met Charles Deas this weekend in Lincoln. "I met with Charles Deas there. I don't think he committed. He said that he had one more trip next week. He's going to be LSU."
