"We had a good season," Foles said. "It got cut short. We lost in the first round of playoffs to Pflugerville. There were some key injuries last year, but overall we had a good season."
"I threw for 2,350 yards. I was 110 for 201, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. I had 70 yards rushing on 29 attempts and eight touchdowns. I was first team all-district, honorable mention all-CENTEX and then all-junior all-state."
Many would describe their strengths at quarterback as a good arm, making the right read and finding the open man. Foles has that too, but admits that his biggest strength is more toward his leadership qualities.
"My strengths are just being able to lead the guys and make them look up to me. Being able to get a feel for the game on the field. Being able to find the open receivers. I do good in pressure situations and I keep the guys motivated."
The summer promises to be busy for Foles who will take part in 7-on-7 as well as some team camps and combines. "I will probably play some 7-on-7, as much as I can, and I am going to go to some college camps and the Nike combine. I don't know which camps I will hit, I am still looking at them."
Recruiting interest has already started for Foles and is holding two offers. "I have been offered by Ole Miss and Duke. Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Georgia, UTEP, Arizona, Florida State, Northwestern, Baylor, Texas Tech, Alabama, and Texas A&M are all showing interest. Really most of the Big 12."
While he will be busy taking in camps and doing 7-on-7, there are also some goals for Foles to summer to help him next fall. "This summer I am going to work on my footwork and my speed. Just my mechanics, keep getting better mechanically. A lot of it will be footwork. Learning to read defenses more."
Foles is also a standout at basketball and is leading Westlake this year to a good season so far. "Yeah, I am still playing basketball. We are doing really well. We are something like 22-9. I am averaging like 19 in district and 16 overall. I am playing forward, either the "3", the "4" or "5"."
