Husker Youth Experience Set for Saturday

Nebraska football coaches and players will again provide hands-on coaching to area children this spring during the Husker Youth Experience set for Saturday, March 25 at Memorial Stadium. The timeline and guidelines for the event are available by clicking on the links above.

The Husker Youth Experience is for area youth from age 8 through eighth grade. NCAA rules require that the free developmental clinic is open only to youth who live in the state of Nebraska, or within 100 miles of Lincoln. The clinic is limited to the first 500 registered participants, with registration available on-line at and Unfortunately, the 2006 Husker Youth Experience is full for this year.  Please watch closely in the month of February 2007 for next year's Husker Youth Experience. If you are interested in having your child attend a football camp at another level please check out our camps.

The participants will work on drills and fundamentals with Nebraska coaches and players. There will be four 10-minute segments teaching the following fundamentals: Form Tackling, Ball Skills, Running and Blocking. Area youth coaches are also encouraged to attend the Husker Youth Experience.

"It was fun to see all of the little Huskers out there on the field last year," Nebraska Head Coach Bill Callahan said. "They got to go through some of our drills and the camaraderie with the players was great. We had a lot of fun with them.

"This year we look forward to again providing a great opportunity for young kids to feel the excitement that our players have every time they play in Memorial Stadium. We view the Husker Youth Experience as a great opportunity for our players and coaches to give back to the community and help young people develop their football fundamentals."

The Husker Youth Experience will be held on the field at Memorial Stadium, immediately following Nebraska's practice on March 25. Nebraska's practice, which will begin at 10:30 a.m., will be open for the participants and their parents or guardians and youth coaches to watch before the start of the event.

All pre-registered participants will be required to check in at the West Stadium (entrance on street level). Registration will begin at 9 a.m. Participants are encouraged to wear tennis shoes and Nebraska t-shirt or sweatshirts, with shorts or sweat pants. The participants will not wear helmets or shoulder pads. In case of inclement weather, the clinic will be held inside the new Championship Indoor Center.
