Lincoln Gearing up for Busy Weekend

The Nebraska Athletic Department is preparing for one of its busiest weekends of the year, with several sports in action at home from Thursday to Saturday. The weekend will be highlighted by the annual Red-White Spring Football Game on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m.

In addition to the Red-White game, several other Nebraska teams will be in action in Lincoln this weekend, including the sixth-ranked Husker baseball team, the No. 17 Nebraska softball team, the Husker track and field teams and spring contests for the Nebraska soccer and volleyball teams.

With the large number of activities and large crowds expected for several events, Husker fans should consider the following notes regarding the Red-White game.

  • Advance tickets are available on-line at, and tickets may also be purchased the day of the game. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for seniors (60 and over) and students not taking the Drug Free Pledge. University students and staff are free with their N Card.
  • Memorial Stadium capacity for the spring game will be approximately 57,000 seats. The North Stadium will not be available to fans because of on-going construction at Memorial Stadium.
  • Students taking the Drug Free Pledge at halftime will be admitted for free. Drug Free participants should meet by the columns on the East side of the stadium at approximately 11 a.m., and seating will be in the South Stadium.
  • Ticket selling areas on game day include the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office; Gates 10, 20 and 24; the intersection of "U" Street and Stadium Drive; and near the columns by Ed Weir Track Stadium. The ticket office will be open for ticket sales beginning at 9 a.m.
  • The following gates will be open for fans—Gates 2, 3, 4 and 10 on the West Side and Gates 20 and 24 on the East Side. Stadium gates will open at 11 a.m.
  • Seating for disabled fans will be available in Section 14D (southeast corner).
  • The Red-White Game will have the same restrictions in place regarding prohibited items in Memorial Stadium, including umbrellas, backpacks, coolers and glassware. In addition, with the passage of a new concealed weapons law in the state of Nebraska, fans are reminded that concealed weapons are not allowed on the UNL campus and are prohibited at all collegiate sporting events.
  • Parking will be at a premium on Saturday. Parking lots in close proximity to Memorial Stadium will be reserved and require a parking permit. UNL Parking Services will staff campus lots east of 14th street, with a $5 charge for public parking. Fans planning to attend the softball or baseball game following the spring game are encouraged to park at Haymarket Park. Fans arriving for the Nebraska Invitational track meet are encouraged to utilize the parking garage at 14th and Holdrege streets.
  • StarTran will be providing a shuttle service from South Pointe Pavilion at 27th and Pine Lake Road and from Slumberland at 27th and Superior. The buses will drop off and park in Lot 12 on the east side of Memorial Stadium.
  • The Husker Nation Pavilion will be open on Stadium Drive, beginning at 10 a.m. The Husker Nation Pavilion will feature its normal variety of games, family fun and vendors.
