HR was trying to think of the offensive lineman that advised them of Kennedy last season.
"Was it (Justin) Blalock?" Kennedy said. "We got together last year. He's cool." (It indeed was former Plano East OL Justin Blalock that told us of Kennedy's abilities on the field.)
"Big X" as he's called by his teammates, currently stands six-foot-three, weighs 305 and has been clocked at 4.88 in the forty. He also benches 420, squats 595, has a 30-inch vertical leap and an impressive 4.38 time in the shuttle.
His numbers on the field last season are just as gaudy, recording 117 tackles (62 solo) with two fumble recoveries, four caused fumbles, 10 sacks, 69 QB pressures, 42 other tackles for losses and two pass deflections.
Now, the big question. Who's in his current top five?
"I really don't have a top five," Kennedy said. "I currently have 46 formal offers and will just have to sort them out. "As far as positions go, some schools like Colorado were talking about me possibly playing at defensive end, but that was after my sophomore year. I really want to play inside at tackle in college."
And what about camps this summer?
"I didn't attend any," he continued. "Oh, I went down with my teammate (Eric Jackson) to the Texas camp, but did not participate.
Kennedy's parents attended Bishop College in Dallas and his dad, Victor, played linebacker for the New Orleans Saints and in the Canadian Football League.
An excellent student, Kennedy carries a 3.8 GPA and took both tests in June.
He is currently ranked 6th overall in the Heartland Recruiting Regional Top 160.
