Huskers offer N. Texas receiver

It's no secret, Nebraska is hitting Texas hard on the recruiting trail. There are six coaches recruiting Texas this year and this find was in the area of quarterback coach Jay Norvell. There is a need to get more players out of Texas and Nebraska has identified some very good ones like this wide receiver from the Dallas-metro area.

The last name of Hubert Anyiam might ring a bell to those that follow basketball with his brother having gone to Rice. However, Hubert is making a name for himself as one of the better wide receivers in the Dallas area.

Anyiam is a 6-foot-1 and 175 pound receiver from Garland (Texas) North Garland who has recently been putting out some very good talent. Anyiam is a tall receiver who also has 4.5 speed in the 40-yard dash.

"I have been getting a lot of pone calls lately," Anyiam said. "I have also picked up some new offers recently."

The offer list continues to grow for Anyiam who says that another offer from a Big 12 school could show up at his house any day. "I have offers from Utah, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Iowa State, Arizona State, and Oklahoma State is about to offer me too."

Last year was a good year for Anyiam for receptions and average yards per catch. The ironic thing is that he doesn't make a lot of long routes. In fact, most of his catches come on short routes where he makes plays for yards.

"I had 40-some catches for over 900 yards and 10 touchdowns. I did punt and kickoff returns last year as well. I ended up winning first team all-district."

"I am usually taller than the corners that I am playing against. I also have a pretty good vertical jump. I can go up and get the ball. My team used me in a lot of screens; under-bubble, jailbreak and short routes."

North Garland doesn't have a league, seven on seven team, but the team is working out again for spring ball and will continue to work out all summer as a team. Anyiam might be able to make some camps later in the year. "We don't do seven on seven in a league. I am going to take a look at some camps and combines later this spring and summer."

When it comes to picking out a school he is getting a lot of help from his coaches. "I am really looking at the academics. My coaches are really helping me out when it comes to getting down what I am looking for and they help me look for it. I want to go somewhere that runs a West Coast offense. Distance won't be a problem."

One coach and school that has made an early impression on Anyiam is Nebraska. They are running a West Coast offense and are in a conference that Anyiam would like to play in. He is looking at taking an official to Nebraska this fall possibly.

"Coach Norvell is recruiting me from Nebraska. I really don't know much about them. He told me about the West Coast offense and that they will be getting ready to lose some receivers and that they are looking for some big-time receivers."

"I really like Nebraska and they are a Big 12 school. I would like to take an official visit to Nebraska in the fall."
