The fall is set for Eloi

Out of William Rainey Harper (Ill.) Junior College, Keith Eloi didn't have any offers to speak of. Odd for an All-American, but academics were a huge issue. He spent a year attending Lincoln Southeast Junior College to get caught up. Then, the attention hit. Possible financial assistance from some schools, but was the lure to play at Nebraska with his uncle, Steve Octavien, enough to overcome?

The story's final chapter with Keith Eloi seems to be set. He was getting some attention from some schools that could have ended a run with playing with his uncle, Steve Octavien, that goes back to the midget football days.

"Yeah, it's a done deal," Eloi said. "I will be walking on at Nebraska."

Excellent news for Nebraska who has a solid walk on class coming together. The academic hurdle for Eloi isn't done, but the end is in sight. He has to finish up this quarter and a short summer class is all to be ready to transfer to Lincoln.

"This week is my last week of this quarter at Southeast. After this I have about three weeks of summer classes to take."

The big question is when will Eloi be joining the team? Workouts should be fine for Eloi to get involved to start conditioning and be ready. But, there are some rules about how many players can report when fall opens.

"I will be there in the summer to work out, but I am not sure when I will be practicing with the team. I spoke with Bryan Heard about that and they have certain rules about that."

"He said that he thought that I would have to come in with the group once school starts. I will still be here though. I will be working out this summer."

Eloi has been busy, but has doing his best to get back into shape. He isn't in terrible shape, but he knows that it could be better. This week he is going to start training harder to get ready.

"I have been working out, but I can't tell you that I am in tip-top shape. I have had a lot of things going on. A lot of homework to stay on top of. Stuff like that. I will start running again this week."

Big Red Report would like to welcome Keith Eloi as part of the 2006 class!
