The QB of the future for Nebraska

Patrick Witt was a little known name in recruiting to Nebraska fans only a week or so ago. However, that all changed last Saturday with a visit and an offer. This past week has been very interesting for Witt. The desire to end the process, but the need to be patient to inform his brother, who is on a mission to Bolivia, before he read about it somewhere played a role in the process.

Nebraska has got their man. Patrick Witt, a 6-foot-4 and 210 pound quarterback from Wylie (Texas), was a relative unknown to Nebraska just a week ago and now he is the future.

Gene Witt, Patrick's father, and Patrick called Big Red Report on Wednesday at noon with their intentions to call Coach Jay Norvell to commit. It was their plan to keep their commitment quiet until Patrick's older brother Jeff, a quarterback at Harvard, would return from Bolivia from a mission.

Following the call to Coach Jay Norvell, Patrick and his father called Big Red Report again to say that it was official. They were set to give a call to the head coach at a later time when Coach Bill Callahan was available to speak.

A more formal announcement, in-line with the family's wishes, will be run tonight after Big Red Report meets with Patrick and his family in person. Big Red Report welcomes Patrick and his family as commit #8 into the class of 2007.

This year, Big Red Report will be running a weekly diary, starting closer to the beginning of fall camp for Wylie, with Patrick Witt. This is an exclusive just to Big Red Report premium subscription holders.
