The First for 2008

With two Steinkuhlers already having either been Huskers or currently playing for the team, it seemed almost inevitable that junior offensive lineman Baker Steinkhuhler would follow suit.

He did, but it wasn't because his dad and brother played there. "It felt like the right place for me and I didn't even think about going there, because my dad or brother went there," Baker said. "I never felt any pressure about committing, but I wanted to get this out of the way before recruiting really became a distraction."

Baker is already considered one of the top prospects in the state for any grade, but he's most definitely the top prospect in the state for 2008. He along with Elkhorn's Trevor Robinson and Omaha Central's Ronnell Grixby are the top players, who all now have written offers from the big red.

Baker becomes the first commit for the class of 2008 and Big Red Report will keep you informed if any of the other three join in or who else might be on the horizon as commits to the big red.

More on Steinkuhler later tonight.
